The VA Boston Healthcare System is currently seeking a board-certified dynamic leader to organize and direct the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation service (PM&RS) of this multi-campus institution including a CARF accredited inpatient rehabilitation program, the Amputee Systems of Care Specialty and Polytrauma System of Care programs for New England. VA Boston is an academic medical center affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, and Tufts University School of Medicine.
The Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation reports to the Deputy Chief of Staff at VABHS. The Department Chief will be expected to expand clinical programs, foster collaborative research efforts between departments and faculty, and explore opportunities within VA and with academic partners in Boston to serve and improve rehabilitation care for the regions Veterans. Faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School, Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, or Tufts University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience.
PM&RS offers a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation across the continuum of inpatient and outpatient care. In addition to running extensive outpatient clinics and an inpatient unit, PM&RS provides support to patients with neurological disorders, traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and dysfunction, and orthopedic disorders. The program is fully staffed at over 90 full and part time staff, comprising staff physiatrists, physical therapy, occupational therapy, kinesiotherapist, massage therapist, chiropractors and a PMR residency training program affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine. Training experiences are also available for medical, PA, chiro students and fellows in PT, OT programs. The development and /or participation in a research program funded by the VA and/or NIH is strongly encouraged.
Candidates must possess a full, active and unrestricted license in any state. U.S. Citizenship is required.
